(MDC), founded by director Myra Krien in 1998, has grown from a local company performing at Cleopatra’s Cafe to a company of national recognition. Renowned for technical and artistic expertise, MDC presents a diverse innovative repertory that honors the traditions of Middle Eastern arts as they relate to American culture and offers a vital contemporary language pushing the limits of the dance form to incorporate an expressive world view. The Mosaic Dance Company is a non-profit organization under Pomegranate SEEDs and is dedicated to education. MDC spends a great deal of time working for free in the community with youth. We educate about Middle Eastern dance forms, the importance of movement and music, community, conflict resolution, and body image. This is accomplished through regular performances and workshops in the schools and other special events.

"Mosaic Dance Company as well as Almaaz Assahara and Ahatti apprentice companies  are all brilliant examples of the ancient art of belly dancing. The performances are of the very highest caliber, with magnificent choreography, costumes, lighting, and of course, the dancing itself. I was so moved by the passion of these very young Santa Fe dancers, and by the quality of their art and their commitment to it. They are not only lovely performers, but clearly they are connected with each other in pride and self-esteem and pure joy. It is absolutely thrilling to watch t his growth and blossoming and a treat to be present at one of their dazzling performances.
